Profile Summary

Professor of Optics at the University of Cantabria since 1993. Heads the Group of Optics of the Department of Applied Physics. Current esearch topics: Light Scattering and Nano-Optics (Plasmonics). Guest researcher at the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment (UK, 1990) and visiting professor at the Dept. of Physics at the UC San Diego (USA, 1996). He has published over 180 articles and has presented numerous communications to national/international conferences, where he has participated either as a speaker (more than 20 invited) or as organizer. Co-author of four patents with the Army Research Laboratory in USA and other two EPC patents. PI of different national/international research projects both public and with private companies. Co-founder of the Spin-off FOTOGLASS (fotoglass.es) dedicated to research and development in Optical Materials. Senior Member of the OSA, member of the EOS, the Electromagnetics Academy (USA) and the Spanish Society of Optics (Chairman of the Education Committee)
