This paper proposes a comprehensive method for detecting maritime obstacles based on marine radar PPI images. This method not only utilizes radar imagery for the rapid identification and tracking of obstacles but also integrates ship GPS and bow direction information to measure the distance, speed, and direction of obstacles. Testing on actual ships has shown that this detection method, which fuses radar imagery with GPS information, can help seafarers observe a more comprehensive picture of the surface situation, thereby enhancing collision avoidance capabilities to a certain extent.
