Vahid Abbasian is a graduate research assistant at the Department of Radiation Oncology in Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, studying Imaging Science at the university. He received his BSc and MSc degrees, both in Physics. In his MSc, he focused on Optics and extended microsphere-assisted microscopy into digital holography to obtain super-resolved 3D images. He showed the capabilities of the setup by using it for precise cell identification and surface profilometry. Vahid's current research focuses on the development of accessible, efficient, and cost-effective optical platforms for optical imaging and sensing in the field of global health, with a primary emphasis on cancer research. He is a student member of SPIE and OPTICA and the associated student chapter at Washington University (WU Spectra). Vahid has published papers in Nature, Optica, IOP Publishing, and Elsevier journals and has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for Optica Publishing and AIP Publishing groups.
