Fiber optic links are the backbone of current high-speed tele- and data communication networks. This course provides an engineering perspective of fiber optic networks beginning with an overview of application areas. It covers the characteristics of laser transmitters, photodiode receivers, fibers, optical amplifiers, electronic components, and passive elements used in high speed fiber optic links.
