Abstract
Urban water environment problems caused by rapid urbanization in China have attracted more and more attention in recent decades. Taking Foshan water system planning as an example, this paper summarizes the natural features and management of river network of highly urbanized areas in the Pearl River Delta, and studies what the difficulty and key issues we facing in the water system planning. The research content a number of planning measures, including the water function zoning, shoreline use, waterfront construction and management, etc. The purpose is to explore the improvement of water system planning so as to create a safe, ecological, prosperous and sustainable city.
