The analysis of stained tissue sections represents an important tool in medical diagnostics. Color digital holographic microscopy
offers subsequent multi-focus true color imaging with simultaneous quantitative phase contrast analysis. Investigations
on digital recording and numerical reconstructions of color digital holographic images have been performed by
applying a transmission microscope experimental setup in holographic off-axis geometry. Three monochromatic digital
holograms with different wavelengths in red, green and blue spectral range are recorded. After digital holographic refocusing
and compensation for aberrations of the microscope imaging system by digital image correlation the numerically
reconstructed amplitude distributions are combined into color images. The applicability of the method is demonstrated
by results obtained from stained intestine tissue sections.
