Profile Summary

Dr. Tao Chen is currently a research associate professor at Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his B.S. and D.Eng. degrees in 2009 and 2014, respectively, both from the college of optical science and engineering, Zhejiang University. During D.Eng. study, he was dedicated to the development of high power, linearly-polarized pulsed fiber lasers and aperiodically poled magnesium oxide-doped lithium niobate (APMgLN) crystals for efficient yet robust quasi-phase-matched optical parametric conversion.
He joined the Key Laboratory of Space Active Opto-electronics Technology, Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. His current research includes the development of special laser sources with novel laser technology combing possible nonlinear frequency conversion processes to fulfill the requirement of different Lidar applications in the temporal, spatial, and spectral domains. He has authored/coauthored more than 50 peer reviewed papers and served as reviewers for more than 20 journals. He is a member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and served as an editor of feature issue on Lidar for JOSA A and JOSA B.
