I graduated in Physics in 1992 and got my PhD in Physics in 1997, both in Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. After my PhD Thesis on high-Tc superconductors, I got a post-doc grant (1997-98) of the italian government (INFM, Istituto Nazionale per la Fisica Della Materia) to pursue research on strongly correlated electronic systems. In October 1998 I joined the Electronics Technology area in Universidad Miguel Hernández (UMH) in the city of Elche, SPAIN, and since 2005 I am Associate Professor in Applied Physics in that university .
After joining UMH my research activities geared toward Photonics, taking part in various projects in the field of optical materials and doing research stages in the electro-optics group at San Diego State University (California) in 2002 and at the Laboratoire d’Optique P. M. Duffieux in Institute FEMTO ST of Besançon (France) in 2006. My research activity is actually centered on slow and fast-light systems, optical filtering and liquid-crystal based reconfigurable systems for spectral shaping. My research experience has lead to about 50 papers in JCR journals and have been involved in many competitive research projects and R+D funding.
I helped organizing, as part of the local Committee, the 4th Reunión Española de Optoelectrónica (OPTOEL, July 2005) and the 3rd International Workshop on Liquid Crystals for Photonics (september 2010) that were both held in Elche. I am a member of SPIE-The International Society for Optics and Photonics and have participated in the 2014-2015 edition of SPIE Women in Optics Planner. I am also a member of RSEF – Real Sociedad Española de Física, being in the Board of Directors of its Local Section in Alicante. I was Teaching Coordinator of the Degree in Ingeniería Técnica de Telecomunicación from 1998 to 2000.
