Profile Summary

I am a Research Team Leader at CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science Division in Australia. My current role is to Lead the Software Development of the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP) Telescope Operating System (TOS). The TOS is in charge of Observation Management and overall Monitoring and Control of the Telescope. ASKAP is a new radio telescope currently under construction at the Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory (MRO) in the Mid West region of Western Australia. It will be made up of 36 identical antennas, each 12 metres in diameter, working together as a single instrument. Incorporating novel receiver technologies and leading-edge ICT systems, ASKAP will be one of the world’s premier radio telescopes and will help to answer fundamental questions about our Universe. I've been working in this role since 2008.

Before joining CSIRO I worked for many years as a Software Engineer at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) La Silla Observatory. At ESO I developed monitoring and control software for the 3.6m Optical Telescope and several Instruments including HARPS, FEROS and TIMMI2.
