I am a PhD student at Wyant College of Optical Sciences focusing my research on biomedical applications, with great interest in the fascinating mechanisms of living organisms and the ways we can use physics and light to study them. I received my BS degree in Physics from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, where I collaborated in research projects within the Biomedical Optics and Biophotonics field under the supervision of Prof. Efrain Solarte Dr.rer.nat.
In addition to research, I have developed great interest for science outreach and leadership activities, especially those focused on underrepresented and vulnerable communities. I was part of the Universidad del Valle OPTICA and SPIE Student Chapter (CUVO) since 2019, where I served as Secretary during the 2020 and 2021 terms, and President during 2022. I am currently part of the Optics for All, formerly Women in Optics group at the University of Arizona, where I serve as Vice President. I actively advocate for inclusion, diversity and equity in the workplace.
