Abstract
To transmit secret application data securely, error resiliently, and synchronously is an issue of great concern. On the basis of image sharing with the use of the JPEG2000-generated bit stream of wavelet transform coefficients and the modified Shamir's threshold scheme over a Galois field, we present a new method for image transmission. The scheme takes advantage of JPEG2000's features of having no error propagation and generating a compact and progressive bit stream. In addition, the algorithm embeds error control codes and synchronization marks into the generated shadow images. As a result, it is secure and error resilient and gives small shadow images and excellent rate-distortion performance for real-time progressive transmission and reconstruction over noisy channels. Experimental results demonstrated promising performance of the proposed method.
