Gradient-index lenses have been made from phosphate glass containing silver by exchange of Ag1 ions from glass for Na+ ions from salt. A lens with a parabolic profile of a refraction index and a diameter of 7.26 mm is produced. For this lens, maximum ?n is 20.032.
