Abstract
The design concept of a lens that can be used for head motion detection in systems such as virtual reality displays, head-up displays, and simulators is described. A novel concept was chosen to meet conflicting performance requirements. Although the design appears to be quite simple in the optical layout, a number of aspects associated with this design are not readily apparent.
