Abstract

We distinguish between light with s-polarisation (E vectors normal to the plane spanned by the incident, reflected, and transmitted beams) and with p-polarisation (H vectors normal to the same plane). From Maxwell's equations, one can obtain the well-known Fresnel's relations for the reflected field amplitudes.
