Light-Characteristic-based Dimensional Measurements
Abstract
We have looked at how to use changes in the position, shape, and distribution of light using such methods as triangulation, structured patterns, and changes in focus. These are the most commonly used methods of optical dimensional measurement over a wide range of applications from steel mills to electronics. But it is also possible to use some basic characteristics of light that change when the light reflects off of or transmits through a material surface.
