Polarization Speckle
Abstract
light in the speckle pattern is perfectly polarized. In many practical applications, especially when multiple scattering is present, the light scattered by a rough object or a diffuser may be partially or totally depolarized. In fact, just as the intensity of the light varies across the speckle pattern, so too the state of polarization may vary. This random fluctuation of polarization has become known as polarization speckle. For a more detailed discussion of this topic, see Ref. [5].
