Abstract
An ultrasonic imaging system for the use in factory automation and computer vision is proposed in this paper. In order to keep the effectiveness in measuring range at large incidence angles multiple ultrasonic sensors are used in this system. A three-element delay-sum beamformer has been designed and the circuit of ultrasonic signal processor will be described. This ultrasonic system is fully programmable and it serves as an interface to the IBM PC. An X-Y axis mover, controlled via RS232, is installed so that the range profile, which will be presented in this paper, can be obtained.
