Abstract
To insure the quality of GIS software, and reduce the expense of development and maintenance, the normal and independent software testing must be introduced into the process of GIS software development. Nevertheless, the whole GIS community pays little attention to software testing while emphasizing on the signification of software quality and security on the contrary. In the result, there is a lack of solutions of GIS software testing theoretically and systemically, and also the technological criteria of software testing in GIS industry. This paper focuses on the methods of software testing in GIS, especially TGIS and Spatial-Temporal Database. Some exploratory researches have been carried on in this paper, and devoted the effort to the foundation work of GIS software testing designed based on the testing theory and the empirical testing.
