Abstract

Map decoration is an important component of the topographic map production. To study and tell of the decoration rules in national basic scale topographic maps and multiple-topographic maps, to enhance efficiency, and reduce the workload of topographic map production, the paper plans to study and use of object-oriented technology, to complete the map decoration automatically. The module has been applied to the photographic map and topographic map product development test in the project of 1:50 000 Topographic Mapping of Blank Area in the Western Region, China. The module practice has proved that the realization of Automatic Decoration Technique greatly improves the work efficiency.
