Abstract
A nonlinear dynamic model of a vehicle semi-active suspension is established with considerations of the nonlinear characteristic of the MR (Magnetorhelogical) damper and the nonlinear rigidity of the springs and the tires. The suspension is controlled with fuzzy controller. The smoothness characteristic of the whole vehicle is simulated in the combination of ADAMS and Matlab. The simulation results show that the semi-active suspension controlled by fuzzy controller is superior to the passive suspension in improving the ride comfort and ride security, and overcomes the shortage of the passive suspension.
