Abstract
In present paper discussed a optimal linearization method (OLM) for nonlinear systems are described by differential equations. OLM based on substitute the nonlinear model with its linear approximation in such a way that the error mean square of the difference between the nonlinear model and its linear approximation for the whole period of the transitory state is minimal. As an example of practical application of OLM, the linearization of a nonlinear model of ion volume recombination during electric arc is presented.
