Abstract
Color video cameras using a single solid state image sensor derive color from a multiplexed signal which is obtained optically by superimposing a mosaic color filter array in the image plane of the sensor. The problem of optimizing the color filter array together with the corresponding decoding scheme is discussed and a systematic study of various color encoding schemes is given.
