Abstract
The spectra of sonoluminescence (cavitation light emission) from aqueous NaCl, MgCl2, CaCl2 solutions, saturated with argon, were studied at different hydrostatic pressures. Results show that the emission from exited state metal atoms grows rapidly with the increase of hydrostatic pressure. The effect is due to higher temperature inside the cavitation bubbles at elevated static pressure. Sonoluminescence spectra can be used to determine the concentration of icons in liquids. The discovered effect of hydrostatic pressure on the intensity of atomic emission allows improving the sensitivity of this sonoluminescence method.
