Abstract
We propose an interferometric fiber-optic sensor for absolute measurements of temperature, hydrostatic pressure, and elognation. The sensor is based on single-mode holey fiber with hexagonal symmetry and uses a spectral decoding method to directly measure the changes in optical group imbalance induced by the measurand. We also determined the susceptibility of the group refractive index to temperature, elogation and pressure, which equals respectively to dN/dT=+1.28×10-5 1/K, dN/dε=-0.40×10-7 1/strain, and dN/dp=-1.0×10-5 1/MPa.
