Abstract
This paper describes the application of computer image enhancement and analysis to the interpretation of noisy low contrast flash X-ray photographs of weakly detonating mining safety explosives. It shows how the shapes and positions of detonation reaction zones can be highlighted even though the original X-ray photographs may be somewhat ill-defined.
