Abstract
This paper presents application of some methods in cell image segmentation. Cell's DNA value, area and perimeter are important parameters in cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Automatic counting of cells and calculating these parameters are desirable since manual operating is tedious, time- consuming and with a great potential of inaccuracies. With the development of image analysis technology, it is possible to carry out ths target. A cell image analysis system was developed in this laboratory to perform the process automatically and accurately. In this process, the most pivotal step is the segmentation of the object, the difficulties may arise due to various reasons such as the contrast quality, touching and overlapping cells, image acquisition hardware artifacts, etc. This paper illustrates an approach based on some effective segmentation methods which are used to solve typical problems encountered in various applications. These proposed methods in segmentation have been used in our system and the test result proved these are valid ways and work well in solving the complex problems. Through the application of these techniques described in this paper, we can count the cell numbers and get the parameters successfully.
