Abstract
The model-based coding technique has become one of the hottest object-based coding members recently. There are vast amount of research on feature extraction, motion tracking and model- synthesizing techniques, but little effort has been paid to texture extraction. In this paper, we present a robust texture extraction technique which can generate a single spherical texture map for a generic model in model-based video coding. The proposed technique is robust to the object's orientation in the view and can be efficiently implemented with parallel processing technique.
