Abstract

An optic-axis LiNbO₃ sample has been supplied on the front part of its lateral x-faces with a pair of electrodes, while the rest of the y-faces along the optic-axis are also covered with electrodes. The rear electrodes are devoted to excite piezoelectrically a diffraction grating to modelock near-infrared lasers. The front electrodes form those of an electrooptic switch that is to coupled out the picosecond pulse developed during repeated round-trips in a closed laser cavity.
