Abstract
A new realization of DPCM video signal/image processing that provides the designer with more flexibility in finding the best trade off between throughput rate and hardware cost is introduced. This is achieved by combining the digit-serial computation with the DPCM video signal processing. The advantage of the posed realization is that the size of the memory used for multiplication can be reduced by a factor of at least 32 compared to 16 in the existing DPCM implementations.
