Abstract
The Sparks-King-Mills model for the intrinsic mm-wave absorption in alkali halides has been generalized and adapted tomaterials with a more complex structure. The modelling is applied to experimental data for the frequency dependence oftans in LiF and CaF2,and to the temperature dependence of tans in Sapphire where the existence of a T2 regime is assessed.
