Abstract

Designers of quasi-optical (q.o.) mode converter systems in most cases use geometrical optics (g.o.) for the de- sign. In this paper limitations of this approximation due to Liouville's Theorem are shown. It turns out that kee- ping these rules in mind g.o. still is a valuable tool. Design criteria for mirrors are shown.
