Abstract
A simple and new optoelectronic sampling (OES) technique using III-V APD and PIN diodes is described for time-division-multiplexed (TDM) signal processing applications. An optoelectronic sampling receiver is designed for sampling 2 Mbit/s data from a 64 Mbit/s 1.3 micrometers optical data stream, with timing information provided by an optical in-band technique. Error free data extraction is demonstrated at -23 dBm optical power.
