Abstract
In photon correlation spectroscopy, fast fluctuations in the intensity of light scattered by submicron particles in suspension are analysed in terms of particle motion. These are related to particle size, or, when the particles are subjected to an electric field, the electrophoretic mobility. A description is given of two novel optical fibre apparatus prototypes which use both these techniques and results are presented for a variety of colloidal particles in suspension.
