Aiming to investigate the evolution in vegetation water use efficiency (WUE) in the Yun-Gui Plateau over the past 22 years. This study estimated the WUE in this region from 2001 to 2022 using the Google Earth Engine. The Theil-Sen, Mann-Kendall, and coefficient of variation methods were employed to explore the spatiotemporal evolution of WUE in the Yun-Gui Plateau. The results showed that: (1) WUE in the Yun-Gui Plateau has been fluctuating but showing an increasing trend, with an average value of 3.01 g C kg-1 H2O. (2) Regions with significant and slight decreases in WUE are mainly distributed in the southwest, while regions with significant increases are mainly found in the central part, and regions with slight increases are predominantly located in the northeast. Most areas exhibit a stable trend in annual average WUE. (3) WUE in shrublands and grasslands is decreasing, while other vegetation types show an increasing trend. The research findings have scientific reference value for the improvement of the ecosystem structure and function in the region.
