Abstract
Mapping accuracy is crucial in determining the quality of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetric results, and empirical research is necessary before large-scale applications for the newly released UAVs. Based on DJI Terra and Pix4Dmapper, the absolute and relative positioning accuracy of the Mavic 3 industrial UAV was verified and analyzed in detail using real-time kinematic (RTK) equipment. The results show that: (1) In RTK mode and no ground control points (GCPs), the output images of the two platforms can meet the requirements of 1:500 large-scale mapping accuracy. The absolute/relative positioning error did not surpass 0.05 m/0.15 m in horizontal and vertical directions. Additional GCPs could not have distinctly improved the absolute positioning accuracy. (2) Pix4Dmapper outperforms DJI Terra regarding mapping accuracy but is inferior to the latter in processing efficiency. The results can serve as a reference for large-scale mapping tasks based on the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series.
