Abstract
The potential of solar energy that buildings accept is one basis for building and evaluating a solar city. Improving the accuracy of assessment results at the medium to long-term scale holds greater significance. This article develops a framework with the viewshed model as its core for estimating the solar energy potential of urban building roofs. Experimental validation conducted at Wuhan University of Technology Nanhu New Campus demonstrates that the estimation framework achieves a balance between accuracy and efficiency.
