Abstract
In order to study the regularity and characteristics of ice coating galloping of overhead transmission lines in the West coast of Bohai Sea, this paper analyzes four ice coating galloping events of overhead transmission lines in Tianjin in recent years, and analyzes the data of galloping and tripping of lines from the aspects of voltage level, Angle between line trend and wind direction, pitch distance and tower alignment. Four rules and characteristics are summarized. First, the galloping trip is more likely to occur in 110kV voltage class lines. Second, the closer the Angle between the line and the wind direction is to 90° vertical, the easier it is to galloping. Third, the dominant wind direction in Tianjin in winter is northerly, and the east-west line is prone to galloping in winter. Fourthly, the vertical arrangement of wires is more likely to have galloping trip than horizontal arrangement or triangular arrangement, and the multi-loop tower is more likely to have galloping trip than the single-loop tower.
