Abstract
To raise the monitoring accuracy of height growth of bamboo shoots, an improved image segmentation algorithm is proposed. The innovation lies in thorough utilization of the color features of bamboo shoots in order to get effective segmentation. Based on stitching and pre-processing algorithms including several filters, the image of bamboo shoots is binarized by chromaticity quantization, and then the defect left behind binarization is eliminated by morphological erosion, dilation and small target removal operators, respectively. Finally, computer simulation results show that the growth information such as position and height relationship of bamboo shoots, is accurately obtained by the novel image segmentation algorithm proposed in this paper.
