Abstract
When a civil aircraft encounters lightning, catastrophic hazards may occur. Especially with the application of massive composite materials, the aircrafts face more and more serious threats in lightning environment. So the manufacturers of the aircrafts must pay design cost to protect them from lightning. The self-diagnosis, self-adaptation and deformation capability of the intelligent materials can change the conduct path of lightning current through structural deformation to avoid the main path of current flowing through the key parts and systems. While its self-healing capability can repair the structural cracks and other damages caused by lightning strikes in time. It has good application prospects in the field of civil aircraft lightning protection.
