Abstract
This study utilized remote sensing data analysis to obtain remote sensing images of rice cultivation systems. ArcGIS hotspot analysis and point pattern analysis functions were employed to analyze the changing trends and spatial patterns of rice re-planting index in the study area from 1990 to 2020, in combination with statistical data analysis. The research findings indicate a decrease in both the rice cultivation area and production in the southern regions of China, except for the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region where the proportion of double-season rice cultivation has also decreased. In terms of spatial distribution, the concentrated areas for single-cropped rice cultivation have expanded, while the concentrated areas for double-season rice cultivation have decreased and become more dispersed. The overall direction of rice cultivation in the study area has gradually shifted northward, indicating a weakening influence of Zhejiang and Hubei provinces. Furthermore, the geodetector was used to identify the influencing factors of the proportion of double-season rice cultivation and the driving mechanisms behind its changing trends. It was found that compared to 1990, the explanatory power of agricultural technological progress indicators has significantly increased, and per capita disposable income of farmers has emerged as the dominant explanatory factor for the proportion of double-season rice cultivation. It is recommended that government departments provide policy support in the form of regional differentiation policies, strengthening the construction of supporting agricultural facilities, and deepening reforms on the supply side of rice production. These measures aim to stabilize and increase the area and yield of double-season rice cultivation, ensuring national food security.
