Abstract
Although there are some traditional NDN cache placement strategies in the literature, most of them cannot take full advantage of the limited cache capacity in the network. In order to improve cache utilization and reduce delay, we propose an Auxiliary Edge Caching Strategy Based on Content Popularity (AECP). AECP allows each node in the network to decide to cache data or not independently. The data popularity and node location information are used jointly to make caching decisions. As a result, AECP pushes data with higher popularity to edge nodes closer to users. Meanwhile, AECP uses the cache flag to reduce the cache redundancy. The simulation results show that compared with the traditional cache placement strategy, the cache strategy we proposed improves both the cache hit rate and the data latency.
