Abstract
The prevalence of diabetes has been rising in recent years, and a significant number of those cases are type 2 diabetes mellitus, which has become a disease that causes great harm to human health. A nutritional pattern known as the Mediterranean diet centers on vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, legumes, fish and poultry, as well as yogurt and cheese. It is an effective nutritional therapy to assist the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus by controlling blood glucose and decrease the danger of complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus. At the same time, it can also reduce the weight of patients and help normal people prevent the occurrence of diabetes. This article reviews the effects of Mediterranean diet on reducing advanced glycation end products and regulating metabolism to control blood glucose, reducing the insulin resistance, improving lipid metabolism, and it is conducive to the generation of anti-inflammatory environment to improve diabetes cardiovascular complications and so on were summarized, so as to explore the Mediterranean diet on the value of the auxiliary therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus.
