Abstract
With increasingly high expectations for medical outcomes and great diversities among individuals, traditional medical devices and surgical methods are difficult to meet the growing needs of patients. Under these circumstances, 3D printing is becoming increasingly mature, which has implications for critical medical services. In recent decades, it has been widely used in the field of implantable medical devices due to its high precision, strong flexibility and high material utilization. Specifically, in surgical applications, 3D printing technology can generate 3D virtual models that provide a better and clearer understanding of a patient's complex anatomy, and patient-specific implants can be tailored to surgical needs. Using 3D digital information, orthopedic surgeons can perform patient-specific orthopedic procedures. Our study first analyzes the advantages of 3D printing technology in total hip replacement surgery, then introduces the overall process of 3D printing technology-assisted customized orthopedic surgery, and discusses the advantages and limitations of 3D printing osteoarthrosis treatment from the perspective of technology and materials. Ultimately, we propose some solutions to promote 3D printing technology in the medical field.
