Abstract
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are nanometer-sized particles, which composed a gold core and a surface coating. The gold core is the protective layer surrounding the core. Gold nanoparticles have good biocompatibility, which is very important for biosensing. Compared with chemical synthesis, biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles takes less time and is more bioactive. AuNPs could target with DNA, Peptide nucleic acid, protein, and small analytes, and then used to detect various virus. In this review, gold nanoparticle could be used in several field, such as detecting the Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) by using peptide nucleic acid (PNA) to target with unmodified AuNPs; preventing cancer by combining DNA response elements and tumor suppressor proteins, which may help manage the target genes within human bodies. HIV can be detected by colorimetric sensing of the core spherical nucleic acid of gold nanoparticles, which is directly self-assembled by DNA. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a kind of popular disease in hospital could be tested in the self-driving DNA nano-sensors, which connected the ssDNA with AuNPs would be an efficient way to detect the virus. Alternating magnetic field (AMF) for an hour could help to kill the bacteria that adhere to hospital testing equipment.
