Abstract
Knowledge extraction is a key task in the construction of essay knowledge graphs. This paper summarizes and analyzes the progress of research related to element and relation extraction, using discourse structure as the knowledge level. We find that existing methods treat element and relation extraction as two independent tasks, both relying on contextual information, without considering the semantic interaction between the two tasks. Thus, we propose the joint extraction of elements and relations as a novel task, migrate the joint method of entity-relation extraction task to this task, and focus on the research advances of the joint method to summarize.
