Abstract
The overspeed protection device is a key device of the turbine to prevent turbine overspeed. Most domestic units use the double protection of electrical overspeed protection and mechanical overspeed protection in their design. Nowadays, with the application of digital control and protection system, electrical overspeed can achieve different degrees of "fault tolerance" through appropriate redundancy technology, which greatly improves the reliability of security system. However, due to the complexity of the structure and other reasons, mechanical overspeed protection has the situation of "mal-operation" or "refused operation of protection", and it can't achieve the "fault tolerance" of the system. On the basis of introducing the setting of overspeed protection device of some units at home and abroad, this paper analyses the shortcomings of the mechanical overspeed protection device of this unit, and puts forward a feasibility of improvement and optimization.
