Abstract
In recent years, the total emission brought by urban transportation vehicles has been rising. To achieve the sustainable development goal proposed by the United Nations, it is necessary to promote the development of electric shuttle buses in the tourist cities. To minimize the total energy consuming and meet the travel needs of tourists, this paper establishes a mixed-integer linear programming model for optimal electric shuttle bus route design with time windows constraints. In addition, some operational constraints of service characteristics and electric shuttle bus route properties are considered. A heuristic-based genetic algorithm is proposed to solve the established model. The proposed model and algorithm are performed in a test network, and the numerical results show that a near-optimal solution can be obtained, which reduces the total generalized cost. The solutions can provide a theoretical basis for electric shuttle bus route design of tourist cities.
