Abstract
For APD-type four-quadrant pulsed laser detection system, the conventional peak extraction method cannot detect the input laser energy when the output waveform is saturated in the nonlinear region. After investigating the response mechanism of this type of system to the input light intensity, an energy inversion model is proposed to invert the input energy using the half-height width of the output waveform for the saturated waveform in the nonlinear region. The simulation and experimental results verify that this model can perform the energy inversion of the saturated waveform in the nonlinear region well. The experimental data show that the half-height-width energy inversion model can widen the detection range by 8.15 times compared with the traditional peak extraction method, and the maximum absolute error is 0.69 mW, and the corresponding relative error is 2.13%.
