Abstract
In order to meet the high-efficiency traffic demand on urban arterial traffic roads in the future, a vehicle-road coordinated control method is proposed. First, the arterial intersection signals control and vehicle trajectory control are combined to minimize vehicle delays and reduce fuel consumption and emissions considering the differences between the two modes of transportation of buses and cars on arterial roads. Then, the bus dwell time model is used to control the waiting time of the bus at the platform to improve its service level. Finally, through micro-simulation analysis, three schemes of Webster single intersection control, MAXBAND coordinated control and coordinated control are compared. The results show that under the condition of high traffic volume, the average travel time of vehicles under the condition of coordinated control is reduced by 22.82% and 12.94% respectively, the fuel consumption is reduced by 16.67% and 22.51% respectively and the average bus stops’ service time is increased by 102.40% and 104.84% respectively. Therefore, the coordinated control proposed in this paper can better reduce vehicle delays and energy consumption, and improve the quality of bus service.
