Abstract
Multiple hypotheses tracking is a very effective approach to the data association problem of multiple target tracking. However, a major present deficiency of this method is the lack of a consistent and concise way to present the resulting track information to a user or to sensor manager routines. This paper develops a new technique, Coordinated Presentation, which encompasses the interaction and degree of confidence of the hypotheses to yield a concise and meaningful presentation of target tracks. The Coordinated Presentation method abstracts information from all of the significant current hypotheses to yield an optimal estimate of the number, centroid and extent of a group of unresolvable target tracks or the state (position) and variance for resolvable separate target tracks. As more observations are received and target tracks of a group become resolvable the transition to separate target tracks occurs automatically. The paper presents results showing the operation of the method.
